Brand identity and packaging design for Alpina´s new mozzarella string-cheese snack.
Context:
In 2021 Alpina, one of Colombia’s largest dairy companies, was set to unveil a new twist on a classic Colombian staple: mozzarella string cheese (queso pera) — marking the dairy giant’s entrance into the snack sector.
Challenge:
S&Co was approached to create a brand identity and packaging design that captures the essence of the beloved Colombian classic, making it relevant to younger audiences, while effectively communicating the playfulness of the product and positioning it as a healthier option in the competitive snack category.
Solution:
The new bold identity is designed to resonate with health-conscious consumers seeking convenient, wholesome snack options without conforming to the usual category codes. Instead, playful design elements and vibrant colors are incorporated to further enhance the product’s appeal to younger consumers, creating a connection with their lifestyle and preferences.
We developed a custom typeface that mimics the texture of the cheese itself, expanding and contracting to reflect the elasticity and playfulness of string cheese. Additionally, we utilized the distinctive pear shape, which mirrors the form of mozzarella string cheese, in the packaging design to clearly communicate the product identity. This instant association with its unique form helps distinguish it from other snacks on the market.
