Brand Identity
Gabriel Garcia Marquez Journalism Festival's brand identity highlights the cyclical nature of the stories we tell.
Context:
The Gabriel Garcia Marquez Journalism Festival, held annually in Medellin, Colombia, celebrates the legacy of storytelling and journalistic excellence. As a city-wide event, it draws participants and audiences from diverse backgrounds to engage in discussions, workshops, and presentations on contemporary journalism.
Challenge:
The festival sought a brand identity that captured the essence of storytelling—how narratives never truly conclude but rather lead to new beginnings. It aimed to expand its reach beyond traditional venues, transforming Medellin into a city-wide celebration of journalism. The challenge lay in creating a flexible identity system that could adapt to various surfaces and effectively communicate the festival’s theme of perpetual storytelling.
Solution:
Inspired by the cyclical nature of stories, our brand identity emphasizes the idea that one narrative’s end marks the beginning of another, the design layout echoed this continuous flow. This flexibility of the new identity allowed the festival to extend its presence city-wide, transforming ordinary spaces into storytelling hubs. The result was a cohesive and immersive brand experience, reinforcing the festival’s mission and engaging audiences throughout Medellin.
